Music Industry Blogs
Posted in blogs, music business on March 12th, 2008 by adminRight now, there are a lot of people saying that the music industry is going through a “painful transition” but few actually have a clue as to exactly what that means for individual artists. I guess it means that the million dollar Warner Music deal that we weren’t going to get before we’re really really not going to get now. But there are a couple blogs out there I follow:
Hypebot. This blog does a good job of collecting the news about what the state of the industry is. And not just the mainstream news about who got fired from EMI or whatever, but little news like a new widget or marketing service is developing that offers promise, etc.
New Music Strategies. This is a professor, Andrew Dubber, who tries to make sense of things as they are. (I dunno, maybe he doesn’t like being called a professor; when I taught at community college, I just asked to be called by my first name).
If you find yourself trying to make heads or tails of how to understand the music industry today and where you can go, these might help. Are they helping Ember After? Good question! Well…at least they’re not hurting…
